Gangster Movies
Ok, even though no one responded to my other top 10 list, I have decided to do another. I can’t think of anything else to write about so here it is! In case you forgot The American Film Institute’s released their top-10 lists of the best in 10 film genres. Some of the genres they listed make it tough to tell what movies belong in the list so I’m skipping a couple of their lists and going right to GANGSTER MOVIES. Feel free to let me know if I’ve missed any. WARNING! Some of the clips below have some ADULT LANGUAGE and a llittle violence!
10. Harlem Nights (Arcenio Hall’s Small role in this movie was GREAT)
9. American Gangster (I hate Crowe, but like Denzel)
8. The Godfathers (1 and 2 blend together to me because I haven’t seen them in a while so I did the series)
7. Pulp Fiction (They consider it gangster so I’ll ad it to my list)
6. Goodfellas (Classic)
5. Bugsy Malone (This is a movie from the 70s that features an ALL-CHILD-CAST. The stars: a young Scott Bao and a young Jodie Foster. This was a GANGSTER/MUSICAL that I used to watch ALL THE TIME when I was a kid)
4. Lucky Number Slevin (A lot of stars in this flick)
3. The Whole Nine yards (Bruce Willis and Matthew Perry. A very funny Comedy/Gangster flick with fun twisty turny plot)
2. Untouchables (Kevin Costner was great early on in his career then fizzled. Came Back strong with Mr. Brooks)
1. The Departed (depressing ending but man I fell in love with this flick immediately.)
I’m sure SCARFACE belongs on this list but I am embarrassed to say I have yet to see it. Here is their list. Feel free to comment on either one.
1. ‘‘The Godfather,’’ 1972
2. ‘‘Goodfellas,’’ 1990
3. ‘‘The Godfather Part II,’’ 1974
4. ‘‘White Heat,’’ 1949
5. ‘‘Bonnie and Clyde,’’ 1967
6. ‘‘Scarface: The Shame of a Nation,’’ 1932
7. ‘‘Pulp Fiction,’’ 1994
8. ‘‘The Public Enemy,’’ 1931
9. ‘‘Little Caesar,’’ 1930
10. ‘‘Scarface,’’ 1983

Phil,
Don’t feel bad about not seeing “Scarface” yet, it is WAY over rated especially by the “gangsta” culture. It is a cool movie to see, but to make it the mantra of ones life is to completely miss the point of the movie. Nice list, but I really have to ask, “Bugsy Malone?” To each his own I guess. LOL
